Welcome to the Immaculate Heart of Mary’s Cardinal Sports Corner!

Although IHM is a small school, we are filled to the brim with enthusiastic and athletic students. We want to foster in our students a love for sports, while building virtue and relationships along the way. That is why IHM is hitting the ground running with its inaugural Golf Team, starting fall of 2024.

As we look into the future, we are excited to announce we will offer a Spring Track and Tennis program for any interested students, where they will compete with local elementary and middle school students from all over Knoxville. More information is coming soon!

Our Goals

  • Learn the Game: Your child will learn the fundamentals of the sport,  including rules, etiquette, and basic techniques.

  • Faith and Virtue: We will incorporate the teachings of the Catholic faith, emphasizing virtues such as integrity, respect, perseverance, and humility, which are central to both the game and our faith.

  • Have Fun: Above all, we want the kids to enjoy the game, build friendships, and develop a lifelong appreciation for activity.

Fall 2024 Golf Information!

  • Coach: I am your Coach, Tom Linderman. I have 4 children, all attending Immaculate Heart this year. I am excited to get to know you all.

While I may not have a closet full of golf trophies or a perfect swing, but what I lack in skill, I more than make up for in enthusiasm! If there were an award for the most golf balls lost in a single round, I would be a top contender. But that’s okay—because our focus isn’t just on perfecting the game; it’s about having fun, learning together, and growing in faith.

This season, your child will learn that golf isn’t just about hitting a hole-in-one (though we’ll celebrate those if they happen!). It’s about enjoying the journey, laughing off the missed shots, and embracing the virtues of patience, perseverance, and humility. With Christ as our ultimate coach, we’ll aim for something even greater than a perfect score—living out our faith on and off the course.

Faith Integration

Each practice and match will begin with a short prayer or reflection, connecting the virtues we practice on the golf course with our daily lives and faith journey. We will discuss how qualities like patience, discipline, and honesty, which are essential in golf, also help us grow closer to God.

A New Tradition of Virtue

As the first sport in our school’s history, we are filled with hope and excitement that this season will spark a new generation of virtue-focused athletes. We aim to compete in the image of Christ, exemplifying His teachings through our actions both on and off the course.

Parent Involvement

We encourage parents to be actively involved! Whether it’s volunteering at practices or simply cheering on the kids, your support is invaluable.
